AIRPOWER24’s Flying Bulls Programme

The Salzburg squadron presents three premieres and AIRPOWER24’s quietest highlight

The Flying Bulls and their fleet, which includes some of the most beautiful and rarest aircraft in history, will play a key role in the varied programme. In total, the ‘Flying Bulls’ will present over 30 aircraft in a total of six displays, including a static display of the legendary Douglas DC-6B, built in 1958.

The Flying Bulls also have three premieres in the line-up: the P51-D Mustang ‘Nooky Booky’ will be part of the Vintage Parade for the very first time, where Swiss pilot Nicolas Rossier will also be celebrating his AIRPOWER debut. In addition, Dario Costa and Luke Czepiel will present a joint display for the first time ever.

The timetable for the Flying Bulls

9:25am – Dynamic Sky
Early in the morning, the Flying Bulls and the Czech Flying Bulls Aerobatics Team take off for the first time and demonstrate their skills and precision in formation flights at the highest level as an introduction to the numerous spectacular manoeuvres in which the ‘Dynamic Sky’ display will be performed.

10.30 a.m. – Aces of Aerobatics
AIRPOWER24 will see the meeting of the two ‘Aces of Aerobatics’ Luke Czepiela and Dario Costa! The Italian Red Bull Air Race pilot will climb into his legendary Zivko Edge 540, in which he amazed the world with his tunnel pass. Together with Luke Czepiel, who impressed the international scene with his bullseye landing in March 2023 in which he was flying a Carbon Cub EX2, this will be a brilliant show for the two of them in their premiere joint display. This will be a real treat for all AIRPOWER24 visitors.

12:50pm – Wings of Silence

Zwei Flugzeuge führen Kunstflugmanöver aus und hinterlassen vor einem blauen Himmel eine bunte Rauchfahne in Rot, Gelb und Weiß.

The quiet hour of Red Bull Blanix with their gliders begins around noon. Anyone who has ever seen one of their displays knows what a special atmosphere they create with their gliders. It is always impressive how one can hear a pin drop at Hinterstoisser Air Base when the Red Bull Blanix gliders fly their precise manoeuvres. It is guaranteed to be the quietest highlight of AIRPOWER24.

1:50pm – Lift-off Legends

Ein Hubschrauber schwebt über einer riesigen Freiluftveranstaltung mit einer großen Menschenmenge, umgeben von einer Landschaft aus Feldern und Bergen in der Ferne.

Clear the stage for the helicopters: in the Flying Bulls’ “Lift-off Legends”, three legends invite you to the “dance of the rotors”. Mirko Flaim, Siegfried ‘Blacky’ Schwarz, and Felix Baumgartner prove that they are true masters of their craft in which they fly two BO 105s and a Bell Cobra 209/AH-1F. They want to captivate the entire site with parallel manoeuvres. The way we know these three, they’re going to rock the show!

16:00 – Vintage Parade

The Flying Bulls’ Vintage Parade proves that age is only ever relative. Because behind this title are unique historic aircraft, the warbirds from Hangar-8 in Salzburg. Of course, the two AlphaJets, the Lockheed P-38 Lightning, the Chance Cought F4U-4 Corsair, and the B-25J Mitchell are not to be missed. And the P51-D Mustang ‘Nooky Booky’, formerly flown by aviation legend Bob Hoover, is taking off with the Flying Bulls fleet for the first time ever at an AIRPOWER.
