Notice of use
The Federal Ministry of Defense operates this website in order to provide information about the tasks of the air force and the recruitment of young cadre as part of AIRPOWER.
It puts the focus on the core duties of the Austrian Air Force and highlight their importance in fulfilling their tasks (maintaining sovereignty in the third dimension) and their contribution to international crisis management. The Federal Armed Forces, and in particular the Air Force, also present themselves as an attractive employer. Recruitment is thus strongly taken into account.
The core defense policy messages of AIRPOWER are:
At the heart are people.
Competence through modern training.
Active in the service of peace and humanity.
Our motivation is your security.
The Austrian population can rely on the Federal Armed Forces for protection and help.
The information presented is thoroughly prepared and checked by the responsible authorities of the Federal Ministry prior to the initial publication. However, due to the general informational nature of the website no guarantee is given for the topicality, correctness, completeness, quality or availability of the information provided at all times. Cookies
Cookies are used on this website. These are text files with information about the use of the website (visited websites, number of visits, visit times, length of stay on individual pages, browser used, operating system used, etc.). Cookies can be persistent – that is, remain until deletion – or temporary, so far as they are deleted, for example, after the end of the session. As plain text files, cookies do not interfere with your computer system, but only influence the appearance of the content of the website you are visiting.
These are text files with information about the use of the website (visited websites, number of visits, visit times, length of stay on individual pages, browser used, operating system used, etc.). We use anonymous cookies, each of which receives a random number or number combination that identifies the visit as being by the same user. Who this user is cannot be determined by this combination of numbers. Such cookies are also used by our service providers.
In addition, the website sets a cookie with its current IP address shortened to the last octet. These cookies are primarily intended to capture the distribution of banners, fade-ins, pageview counts and multimedia content, making it easier and more effective to use a website. In no case will your personal data, name, address and email address be stored in the cookies.
If you want to forego the benefits of cookies and prevent the analysis of user behaviour, you can delete already existing cookies in your browser and block cookies in the browser setting for the future. Use the Help menu on your browser to learn how to change these settings.
If you delete all cookies via the browser settings, you also delete any opt-out cookies. You must then set them again. If you use several browsers, you must set opt-out cookies in each browser.
Web analytics services
The website uses web analytics services, in particular Webtrekk and comScore, as well as Webtrends and Google Analytics, which in turn use cookies.
Webtrends:
The information generated by the Webtrends Analytics cookie, a service of Webtrends Inc. (“Webtrends”), about your use of our site is usually transmitted to a Webtrends server in the United Kingdom and stored there; in some cases it is also forwarded to Webtrend’s servers in the USA. Because IP addresses are made anonymous on this website, however, your IP address is abbreviated first by Webtrends within the European Union or in other signatory states to the Agreement on the European Economic Area.
Only in exceptional cases will the entire IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and truncated there. Webtrends will use this information on behalf of the operator of this website to analyse your use of the website, to compile reports on website activity and provide additional services associated with the use of the website and internet to the website operator. Webtrends will in no case merge the IP address identified by Webtrends Analytics with other Webtrend data.
Webtrends may transfer the information collected by Webtrends Analytics to third parties as long as Webtrends is legally obliged to do so or third parties process this data on behalf of Webtrends. You can prevent the storage of these cookies by changing the settings of your browser, as mentioned above.
Google Analytics and Adwords:
The information generated by the cookie about your use of our site, in the case of the use of Google Analytics, a service of Google Inc. (“Google”), is usually transmitted to a Google server in the United States and stored there. To anonymise your IP on this website, we use the extension “-anonymize ()”. However, your IP address is first truncated by Google within member states of the EU or other parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the entire IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and truncated there. Google will use this generated information on our behalf to analyse your use of the website, to compile reports on website activity and provide additional services associated with the use of the website and internet to the website operator. Google will in no case merge the Google Analytics collected IP address with other Google data. Google may transfer the information collected by Google Analytics to third parties, as long as Google is legally obliged to do so, or third parties process this data on behalf of Google. You can prevent the storage of these cookies by changing the settings of your browser, as mentioned above.
Furthermore, you can also prevent the acquisition by Google of the data about your use of the website generated by their cookie (incl. your IP address), by downloading and installing the browser plugin available via the following link: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Google AdWords Remarketing is a republishing and behavioural targeting service provided by Google. It links the activity on the site to the Adwords ad network and the DoubleClick cookie. You can unsubscribe from cookie tracking here: google.com/settings/ads/onweb/optout
Webtrekk Analytics:
Our website uses the web analysis services of Webtrekk GmbH, Boxhagener Straße 76-78, 10245 Berlin, to collect statistical data on the use of our website and to optimise our services accordingly. The collected data will only be forwarded to our statistical service provider, Webtrekk GmbH. Webtrekk GmbH is certified for data protection in the field of web analytics. The data is collected via cookies. Your IP address will be anonymised, stored and forwarded so that you cannot be identified through your IP address. Webtrekk uses temporary session cookies which are deleted when you end your browser session. This also applies to last-click cookies. The collected data is deleted when it is no longer needed for evaluation or when the visitor requests the deletion. Website visitors can stop the anonymised tracking of their visitor data at any time and thus prevent this tracking in future.
For more information on how Webtrekk collects data, see the Webtrekk privacy policy at www.webtrekk.com/en/index/opt-out-webtrekk/ .
To prevent Webtrekk tracking, a cookie is set with the name webTrekkOptOut by the webtrekk.net domain. This withdrawal of consent applies until you delete this cookie. To complete this revocation, please click on the following link: optout.webtrekk.net.
ComScore / ScorecardResearch:
is another piece of tracking software that we use. This is a web analysis service provided by Full Circle Studies, Inc. (11950 Democracy Drive, Suite 600, Reston, Virginia 20190, USA). Comscore/ScorecardResearch logs and analyses our users’ non-personal, statistical usage and volume data to determine browser-level behaviour. For more information about how Comscore/ScorecardResearch collects data and how to opt-out of this service, see the Company’s privacy policy at www.scorecardresearch.com/privacy.aspx.
Social plug-ins
Facebook:
We use social plug-ins of the facebook.com network, namely the “Like” button and the “Share” button. These plug-ins are provided and distributed by Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA. They are marked with the Facebook “f”. Upon activation of these plug-ins, your browser connects to the Facebook servers. The content of the plug-in is transmitted directly to your browser. The plug-in is part of Facebook and only shown on our website. Any interaction through the plug-in is an interaction on “facebook.com” and not on our website. We do not have any influence on the content of the plug-in. At the same time, Facebook sets one or more cookies in your browser.
Facebook will receive data through the active plug-in and the cookie or cookies, even if you have not yet clicked on the plug-in itself and even if you do not have a Facebook account. According to Facebook, this data includes visited website, the date, time, browser type and version, operating system and version and, to our knowledge, the IP address and Facebook cookies already stored in the browser. Facebook can thus reconstruct which other websites with Facebook content (including these plug-ins) you have visited. Facebook uses this data to identify bugs in its own system, to improve its own products and adapt to user behaviour, to control, place and tailor advertising, to localise, and to record the way websites with Facebook content are used, and for purposes of market research.
If you are logged into Facebook when the plug-ins are activated, your Facebook login ID number will also be transmitted to Facebook. This will allow your visit to our website to be directly linked to your Facebook account. You will then be identified by Facebook with your Facebook name and your private information from your Facebook account. In the case of interaction with the Facebook plug-in, i.e. when clicked, this information is transmitted to the Facebook server, and, depending on the settings of your Facebook account, also published on Facebook and displayed to your friends. To prevent this, you must first log out of your Facebook account before activating the Facebook plug-ins and delete all Facebook cookies after visiting websites with Facebook plug-ins. According to Facebook, they store all this data for up to 90 days. Facebook then anonymises this data and uses it only in an anonymous and summarised form, such as to improve advertising.
Facebook’s plug-ins are set so that we do not receive any of the information provided with the plug-in or the Facebook cookies. All we can determine is that you have clicked on the plug-in and shared our content with others.
For more details on how Facebook handles its data, please refer to the Facebook privacy policy at www.facebook.com/about/privacy/.
Twitter:
We use social plug-ins from the short message service Twitter, namely the “Share” button. This plug-in is provided by Twitter, Inc., 1355 Market St., Suite 900, San Francisco, CA 94103 USA, and sends data to Twitter. The plug-in is indicated by the Twitter logo.
By enabling this plug-in, your browser will connect to Twitter’s servers. The content of the plug-in is transmitted directly to your browser. We do not have any influence on the content of the plug-in. At the same time Twitter sets one or more cookies in your browser. Twitter receives data through the active plug-in and cookies, even if you have not yet clicked on the plug-in itself and even if you do not have a Twitter account. According to Twitter, this data includes the visited website, the previously visited page, the date, time, browser type, operating system, your IP address, search terms used, your location, your mobile service provider, your mobile device, your application ID and Twitter cookies already stored in the browser (so-called Twitter widget data). Twitter can thus reconstruct which other websites with Twitter content (including these plug-ins) you have visited. In particular, Twitter uses this data for its “Tailored Suggestions” service, which recommends certain “tweets”, for system and product improvement, adapting to user behaviour, localising, recording the way websites are used with Twitter content and for the purposes of market research.
If you are logged in to Twitter when activating the plug-ins, Twitter can connect to your Twitter account. To prevent this, you must first log out of your Twitter account before activating the Facebook plug-ins and delete all Twitter cookies after visiting websites with Twitter plug-ins.
According to Twitter, they start deleting the widget data after 10 days. This can take up to 7 days. Thereafter, Twitter uses only aggregated, anonymised data, such as how often a page with Twitter content has been accessed.
Twitter’s plug-ins are set up so that we do not receive any of the information provided using the plug-in or the Twitter cookies. All we can determine is that you have clicked on the plug-in and shared our content with others.
For more details on how Twitter handles its data, see the Twitter Privacy Policy at twitter.com/privacy.

You may obtain information on the data stored about you at any time. We may have to verify your identity to do so. Furthermore, you can have your stored data amended or deleted at any time. So far as deletion conflicts with statutory retention requirements, the data will be blocked.
You may revoke without explanation your consent for the future use of your data for the purpose of sending the newsletter, answering inquiries and contacting us, and also the use of your data for anonymous usage profiles, for purposes of service design improvements and accessibility, as well as advertising and market research.
To unsubscribe from the newsletter, please click, for example, on the unsubscribe link in the newsletter email. Your enquiries, an objection or revocation can be addressed to us in different ways, e.g. by email to the above addresses.
