Krila Oluje (Wings of Storm) is Croatia’s national aerobatic team. It is a team of six flight instructors from the 93rd Military Air Base in Zemunik who fly six Pilatus PC-9M Turboprop training aircraft. Captain Diana Dobos, a Krila Oluje member from 2005 to 2007, was the third woman in the world to fly in an aerobatic team.
The team performed its first show with four aircraft on 22 July 2004 at the opening ceremony of the European Sailing Championships in Zadar. Just one year later, on 5 August 2005, the team took part in the 10th-anniversary celebrations of the military and police operation known as “Oluja” and was named Krila Oluja By the end of the year, the team had grown by one additional aircraft, and in 2009 by one more again. The team performed its first show as a formation of six aircraft on 25 March 2009.
Krila Oluje performs a very challenging 23-minute display routine with impressive manoeuvres, including formation tailslides and spins. During their display, the aircraft fly less than 2m apart, at speeds of up to 550km/h, and the g-forces endured by the pilots range from -2.5 g to +6.5 g.
With its precise flight demonstrations, the team is already one of the regular guests at AIRPOWER.
