ÖBB EXTEND EXTRA PLATFORM IN ZELTWEG: EASY ACCESS TO AIRPOWER24 BY TRAIN

Improved comfort and environmental friendliness when travelling on 6th and 7th September 2024

To enable visitors to AIRPOWER24 to travel comfortably and stress-free, the platform at Zeltweg rail station was extended in good time before the event on September 6th and 7th. The platform has been extended from 80 meters to 160 meters, creating considerably more space for all passengers travelling by train to Europe’s biggest airshow. Thanks to the extension, it is now possible to double-train local trains up to a length of 160 meters. This means that around 500 people can be transported per train, depending on the type of vehicle. This measure both ensures a faster and safer journey, as well as a more environmentally friendly travel option.

The project, which received €730,500 of financing from the ÖBB, the Province of Styria, and the Federal Ministry of Defense, represents significant progress for mobility. Each of the institutions involved is contributing a third of the costs to ease travel to and from the event as well as improve visitor safety at major events such as AIRPOWER24.

The construction work, which was carried out from 24th June to 2nd September 2024, has significantly upgraded the infrastructure and ensures that large events will run more smoothly and safely.

The improvements to the event platform will make a significant contribution to relieving traffic congestion in the Murtal region, as more traffic will be shifted to rail.

This traffic-calming measure protects the environment and ensures a more efficient flow of traffic, both for AIRPOWER24 and for future events.
